By now we’ve all heard about the UK snap election happening on the 8th of June 2017, but did you know that you are able to vote even if you are in America?
A ‘Snap Election’ is when an election is called earlier than expected and the result of the June election will determine the UK Government for the next 4 years.
British Citizens that won’t beĀ in the UK to vote are still able to have their say and vote by post or proxy (when you give someone permission to vote on your behalf), as after all, the decision that is made on the 8th of June will impact you when you do come back to the UK after your au pair placement!
Registration to vote closes on the 22nd May 2017 and you can do that on this link.
For more information on how voting via post or proxy works, check out the Government information here.
